Big Trees State Park in Calaveras County.
Calaveras County is located to the southwest of Lake Tahoe, in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains in California. It is a County which is world famous for its Big Trees State Park, a giant Sequoia redwood grove and the author Mark Twain's story of the "Jumping Frog of Calaveras County". Many historic mines in the California Mother Lode were located in Calaveras County, and a great deal of gold and copper were mined there. The County seat is located in the city of San Andreas.
